Say no to AKC , do not buy your Coton puppy from breeders who are pro AKC

Do not buy your puppy from Pet stores that sell puppies ~ all those puppies come from breeders who do not care about their puppies. They come from puppymills.

Only buy your Coton from a reputable
Code of Ethics Coton de Tulear breeder

associated with one of the National Breed Clubs
that take a strong stance against AKC recognition.

There are about 150 Code of Ethics Coton breeders in the U.S.
They take great care to ensure the health of their lines and socialize their puppies individually in the home. They are very concerned about proper placement of their puppies and will probably ask you more questions than you will ask them. Good care and selection to maintain the best characteristics of the breed takes a lot of time, energy and money, which is reflected in the price of a puppy from a reputable breeder. The major cost of a dog is the veterinary care over its lifetime, and it?s best to get one from a breeder who knows the health of the lines and will guarantee against any genetic health defects, stand behind the puppy for life and offer to rehome the dog if the family situation warrants.

There are over 400 Coton breeders total in the U.S.
Some of these are large scale puppy producers with multiple breeds, who sell Coton puppies on the Internet for $200 and up. They sell their puppies at auctions and to pet stores. No reputable breeder ever sells puppies to a pet store or to a puppy broker.

AKC supports large scale breeders, puppy auctions and pet store puppies.

AKC representatives attend the auctions to pass out AKC registration applications to the buyers.

AKC has formed a pact with pet stores to provide AKC papers to any dog in the store, no questions asked.

Help to preserve and protect the Coton de Tulear rare breed.
